
Go figure! Who knew such an exciting whale watching adventure could happen right here in New York?!?!?! Yesterday, my family and I boarded a boat from Freeport, New York (on Long Island). It was a special day of sightings because we got to see a humpback mother and her calf, frolicking and feeding, and we saw them double breach in unison! The captain said that in all of his years of boating, it was the first time that he ever saw such a thing! We saw dolphins and whales for at least 2 hours of the trip. In fact, we saw SO many dolphins, we almost didn’t even pay attention to them any more. I honestly had no idea that we would see whales and dolphins SO close to the shore, in New York, in those numbers! What a fun day….. (more…)





Spring is FINALLY here in NY, and boy- do I have the travel bug! As a school teacher, I look forward to escaping on a relaxing and fun getaway when we have time off for the holidays in the spring. This year though, we only had 1 DAY OFF because we used double the snow days that were allotted for the year. GRRRR….
