Summer sun can be tough on your body, particularly on your scalp and skin. The trick to prevent damage is to keep these parts exfoliated and moisturized. While many of us already take care of our skin, most of us neglect our scalp, I’m thinking that most of us don’t apply sunscreen to our scalps because our hair covers most of it. However, your scalp is as susceptible to sunburn and damage as your skin. Over time, your head can get itchy and irritated due to the effects of buildup and being out in the elements. I made this DIY Scalp Scrub and Moisturizer to exfoliate and moisturize the skin on my noggin. “AHHHH,” says my head! (more…)
Hello friends! I am sharing with you some pretty amazing products from Beauty Without Cruelty! Why do I LOVE these products so much? What is NOT to love?!?!? We’ll go into the many reasons in a second, but first let me introduce you to some of the most creamy, best smelling, emollient conditioners I have found so far! Just over a month ago, my husband Mike, ran in the Massanutten Mountain Trail 100, a rugged 103.7 mile trail race in the Appalachian Mountains. Many of you- friends and family, already know this from the pictures I posted and have already heard about the experience. Many of our friends are runners, and many of you have done multiple 100+ mile races. You folks can most definitely relate. However, if you are like me, you can’t even fathom running that distance- let alone about 17,000+ feet of elevation gain. That is why I am writing this piece. I am not writing this so he can “toot his own horn” (even though he deserves the accolade). It took some convincing of Mike to sit down with me and undergo this “interview”. To ME, this endeavor serves as an inspiration and I am very proud of him. It really brought to light that it IS truly possible to do anything you put your mind to. I wanted to share this awesome motivating experience with you….So what is it like to run 100+ miles….. (more…)
I have been on a DIY Skincare kick for the past few months. I am loving how easy and cost effective it is to make my own products, not to mention how much healthier it is to use products that are not laden with synthetic and harmful chemicals. This DIY toothpaste is all that, and more! I used simple ingredients to make the paste, and used Young Living Essential Oils for the flavoring. Not only does my toothpaste taste great, but due to the oils, it has healing and restorative properties as well! (I ONLY use Young Living Oils because these are the only oils that I trust are safe to ingest.) Make your mouth happy, and make your own! (more…)

A while back, I used to buy Tea Tree Toothpicks from the health food store. I like (and sometimes need) a gum alternative , so these are the perfect thing to keep with me in my bag. Who doesn’t like a fresh mouth???? Today, I saw them at the store, and I gasped at how expensive they were! I decided that I would return home, and make my own toothpicks…. for 1/4 of the cost!!!! They were ridiculously easy to make. You only need 2 things to make them. A MUST HAVE! (more…)
